2025 Rally for Rooftop and Community Solar
Wednesday, May 28 | 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
New York State Capitol Building | Million Dollar Staircase
State Street and Washington Avenue, Albany, NY 12224
On Wednesday, May 28th, Senator Harckham, New York's solar industry, and a coalition of supporters are convening a Rally for Rooftop and Community Solar in Albany at the Capitol Building.

Distributed solar is New York's most successful clean energy sector, surpassing deployment goals ahead of schedule and under budget. Rooftop and community solar deliver direct utility bill savings to hundreds of thousands of New York families and businesses while powering the economy and supporting 15,000 good local jobs. As New York leaders seek to tame the affordability crisis facing families across the state, rooftop and community solar are critical tools to lower household energy bills.

Despite this momentum, federal policy uncertainty is threatening New York's solar success story, making state-level policy leadership more important than ever before. Senator Harckham's recently introduced Accelerate Solar for Affordable Power ("ASAP") Act will; raise New York's solar goal, enact utility interconnection reforms to lower costs, and continue support for solar projects that lower electricity bills for businesses, homeowners and renters alike. This event will bring hundreds of blue collar and white collar solar industry workers and clean energy supporters to the halls of power to call for the New York legislature to take bold action and pass the ASAP Act this legislative session.

The Rally for Rooftop and Community Solar will be followed by sandwich lunch and optional lobby meetings with legislators. Tentative agenda below, with additional details to be confirmed.
